Just another day - in paradise....

I have had an interesting week so far.  One of those weeks where you are busy all the time but nothing seems to get done.

This morning I got the best news that I have had for ages.  From DS20.  Before I get into it I will explain something.  I love him dearly, hell, sometimes I even like him.  He finished school at 15 ½ at the end of year 10 and went straight into an apprenticeship.  When he was about 17, after a lot of thought and a lot of anxiety we asked him to leave home.  This wasn't on bad terms - he upset the whole house and one of us would have ended up in a small room, either with bars or padded walls.  Since then he has moved back twice.  Mind you, as soon as he was out the door I turned his bedroom into an office, so he sleeps on the couch when he is here.  Doesn’t stop him coming here....  But what is worse than him being back for periods of time in between houses is that he turns up regularly.  Like, 5 or 6 nights a week.  Like half the weekend.  And sleeps on my couch.  In my lounge room.  In front of my TV.  And he works a lot of night shift.  Are you seeing the picture?

So, it seems that he will be leaving the big smoke that he loves so much and moving to Central Queensland to work for the opposition.  Now I know that I will miss him like crazy when he is gone.  But for the moment, all I am seeing is a vacant lounge, the TV on what I want to watch and lovely evenings when DH is away working, DS16 ½ is out, which is most nights, and me, on my couch with a glass of wine and watching one of my TV shows, and no-one walking in the front door unexpectedly.  Bliss!!!!!!

On another note, I have spent part of the week scrapbooking.  Yes, I am a dag and I scrap.  I needed to buy some stuff for a project that I am doing from a place on the Gold Coast.  They have classes, so I thought that if I am driving down that I might as well make it worthwhile.  Tracy from http://www.my2angels.net/ is going to be my new best friend.  She runs a little place from her home and specialises in charms.  You know that feeling when you just click with someone.  Well, I got that.  And, she had the crime channel on her TV in the background.  This is my sort of woman.  Seriously, Tracy, if you are reading this – I am not a stalker.  I just felt that I was ‘at home’.  Scrapping is pretty personal in a lot of ways, and I think I have finally found the classes that ‘fit’ me.  Here are the two layouts that I did.  They were fun, and relatively quick and I will be back!

So, after all the excitement this week I am off to drop boys at school, go the gym and then come home and get my house in order.  Roll on Friday afternoon I say......

Mondayitis.....

I am feeling decidely exhausted this morning.  Not sure if that has to do with looking after little people over the weekend or having done my first 'real' session at the gym today.  Probably a combination of both, I'm thinking...

My Neice and Nephew were here for the weekend, as I mentioned the other day.  We had a ball at the art gallery, had fish and chips for dinner and a late night because we had to wiat for DS16 1/2 to come home before we could go to bed.  On Saturday we baked, went shopping, watched lots of TV, ate a late dinner and couldn't go to bed until DS16 1/2 got home from work.  Or rather, until we picked him up from work.  I am not using the 'royal we' here, but referring to DN3.  She loooves her big Cousin.  I think he is glad to get out of the house when she is here because she hardly lets him go to the toilet on his own.  On the other hand DN1 doesn't like him at all.  He screams when he sees him.  And screams.......  Could have something to do with the fact that DS16 1/2 is 6'3" and it is a really long way up.  Could also have something to do with the fact that he doesn't say much - He is very much a 'says what he needs to' sort of boy.  Anways, we need to work on that one.......

I have been going to the gym for about a month.  I drop the kids at school, pick up the mail and go to the gym.  I am into a habit now, I think.  So, after just treadmilling and biking each morning, I decided that it was time to get stuck into it.  Thursday last week the lovely Lurelle did up a program for me, and today I started.  Lower body today.  And a bit of treadmill.  I am tired and have sore inner thighs - not boding well for tomorrow morning.

So, because of the litte people the house is a little more trashed than usual.  Also, the floors are disgusting!  So, my sore inner thighs and I are off to do some housework.  The washing is out, so that is a start.  Then, I need to do some paperwork so that I can continue to lead the life that my Husband has got me accustomed to.  Until tomorrow......

The making of a not so brown house....

On Wednesday I delved into another world.  The world of interior design.  The brown house needs some TLC and we would like it to be, basically, not so brown.  After some 'discussions' with the DIDO Husband, I decided that I needed some help.  We need to blend my ecclectic, kitcsh with his streamlined and modern.  He wants to get someone in to tell us what to do.  I decided that I would learn how to do it all myself.  Not the work - just how to put it all together.

So, on Wednesday, after dropping kids at school, and picking up parts, I arrived at DIY Designer.  You can check them out at www.diydesigner.com.au.  The girls here are going to bring my 'inner creativeness' to the forefront and I am going to redesign the interior of my house.  Who knew there were so many things to consider???  At the moment I am carrying around a tea-towel that has colours that I think I would like to use.  I am thinking (and this is sure to change) of lots of white and beige, with some green and purple.  Interesting, I know.

On another note, we are getting our monthly visitors this weekend.  Not what any of you are thinking.  We have my neice and nephew to stay one weekend a month.  They are 3 and 1.  This gives my Sister and Brother-In-Law a break and two nights of unbroken sleep.  We get a messy house and lots of fun.  Today we are visiting the art gallery because Annabelle's Daddy told her that Uncle Kerrian would take her.  They have a kids thing at the moment about wild things. http://www.ipswichartgallery.qld.gov.au/exhibitions/2012/06/23/wild-thing-wild-colours-%E2%80%93-wild-ideas-%E2%80%93-wild-fun

I have stocked the fridge and pantry with the sort of food that they like to eat.  Lots of special treats.  Tomorrow we will do some baking, because that is what Annabelle likes to do.  Fyn likes to follow the animals around.  And put little things into strange places.  Goodness only knows what we will be like when Grandkids come along.......

The Wiggles - then and now.

We first went to a Wiggles concert in the second half of 1993.  DS20 was about 18 months old and we sat on the floor in the Town Hall.  We lived in Emerald at the time.  It was before the mining boom hit properly.  We had Thursday night shopping but nothing after midday on Saturday!  Tickets were a huge $5.00 each and the place rocked.  We bought a Dorothy tail.

This week I bought Wiggles tickets once again.  I must admit that I did venture into the world of The Wiggles last year, but I just can't class it as a 'real' concert because there was no Greg.  It was fabulous, but without Greg Wiggle it just wasn't the same.  So, come December, we are off to Boondal with the 3 1/2 year old Neice and the 18 month old Nephew for the final series of concerts with the four original members.  I got pre-sale tickets, which I had to pay extra for (who knew) at the grand old price of $54.44.  Hugely inflated since 1993, but well worth the extra 15 odd dollars.  We are in the front seat.  Did you get that - THE FRONT SEAT!!!!!  Aunty Kerriann is very excited.  Last year at the concert Annabelle told me that it was the best surprise ever.  Let's hope that Annabelle and Fynlay think so this year.  Although, it really won't matter, because I will be in the front seat!!!

Who'd of thunk, that 19 years ago, sitting on the cold hard floor of the Emerald Town Hall that The Wiggles would be at the Boondall Entertainment Centre.  After, touring Australia many, many times and even venturing to the good ol US of A?  So, Greg, Anthony, Murray and Jeff - Well done from this SAHM.  Congratulations for entertaining kids around the world for 2 decades.

And, just for those you know what I'm talking about - I am guilty of having owned a Cockraoches cassette......

Just another Day

Anyone who knows me reasonably well knows that I have a little issue with matching things.  Take this morning for example - I was off to the gym wearing grey and orange.  Orange socks to match the stripe in the t-shirt.  Thanks to www.rivers.com.au for having a recent sale I now have joggers to go with most of my gym outfits, so the shoes were orange and white.
This leads on to the big issue of the moment.  The background here is that, as a single Mum I used to treat myself with matching bra and knickers.  I knew they were there even if no-one else did.  This has turned into OCD and I have been known to stay home because I did not 'match.  Now that I am becoming a gym junkie I realised that my 14D's needed to supported properly.  The dilema - where do you buy matching sports bras and knickers?  They need to be more than just the same colour, so any suggestions would be great.

Off to iron, now that the washing up is done and the chocolate brownies are cooling......

Today's the day.......

Well Folks,
Today is the day......  The day that I start to be accountable - accountable to the world for what goes on in my day.  Apparently, as a SAHM I really don't do much, so I decided that if my Family don't want to know - or understand - what I do all day, that someone in the world should know.  So, welcome to my world......

Today's adventure began about 8pm when I got a text message "Just to let you know I am in hospital :)" It came from DS20 who should have been at work.  Attempts to call him and to get him reply to my texts seemed to be a bit of a drama.  Why send me a message and then not answer the phone??  He finally called to let me know that he had sliced his finger while at work, but was ok - he had driven himself to the nearest hospital and was waiting, not very patiently, in the A&E.  No, he didn't need me to do anything, just thought I should know.  Thanks!!  Should be a lovely day tomorrow.  Added to the fact that he doesn't live here, but hasn't slept anywhere else for the last ten days.  Apparently, my lounge and tv are far superior to the ones at his house.  Either that or he just can't live without his Mum.....

Anyways, life goes on.  We have a holiday from school tomorrow because of the Ekka (The Brisbane show).  DS16 will sleep in and then get cranky with his Brother because he is here.  I plan to miss all the excitement - I have a day out planned.  First I hit the gym and then I am off for a haircut and to get my nails done.  I will get home in time to do some baking, before I venture out again to go to the movies.  All sounds very indulgant, doesn't it?  Aaaaagh, the life of a SAHM.........
